Gita Sjahrir
Our spotlight Gita Sjahrir, co-founder & chief of Ride Studio, Jakarta. Ride was founded in April 2015 when her first moved to Jakarta from New York and missed the old neighborhood indoor cycling studio in NYC. Gita envisioned a company where everyone can continue to learn from each other and feel that they're not simply another piece of the machine. A working culture that rewards hard work and result, and not just seniority. The welcoming fitness community that accepts and motivates people from all backgrounds and goals. This year Ride will be opening more studios in Jakarta and launching new cardio classes this year.
"I build my company around my employees' happiness, because an unhappy work environment will affect your whole business."
Who is a woman that inspired you the most and why?
My mom, for sure. I don't know anyone who can hustle like she does. She makes no apologies for being an ambitious and independent woman. Oh, and by the way, she also has a Ph.D! I don't know how she juggles being a mom, business woman, activist, and teacher.
What is it like to be a woman entrepreneur today?
The world is more open with the idea of a woman entrepreneur today, but of course we still face a lot of discrimination, be it blatant or not. The key is to surround yourself with a strong support group and realize that real queen fix each other's crowns. As women, we should help our sister, rather than bring anyone down.

How do you relax after a stressful day?
I read. A lot.
How does reflexology make you feel?
Really good. And wonder why I don't do it more often.
Why do you like Spalosophy and what treatment you like most from Spalosophy?
Love, love, love the massage from Spalosophy! What I like most about Spalosophy is that I can always be sure that the quality standards for cleanliness and service are high. Plus, it’s pretty great that they actually bring a massage bed to your place for their massage service. They really do pay attention to details!
